ONION Architecture

Layered Technology Stack

Onion Network operates as a Layer 3 solution built on top of Ethereum (Layer 1) for security and Base (Layer 2) for scalability. This multi-layered approach provides a robust infrastructure, enabling Onion Network to achieve high transaction throughput, minimized latency, and minimal gas fees—key requirements for both high-frequency RWA tokenization and dynamic entertainment applications.

  1. Layer 1 - Ethereum

    • Security: Ethereum serves as the foundational layer, offering proven security through a decentralized network.

    • Decentralization: Ensures resilience and censorship resistance by maintaining a widely distributed node infrastructure.

    • Immutability: Ethereum’s ledger records transactions securely, making them tamper-proof and creating an auditable, trustworthy environment for asset tokenization and dApps.

  2. Layer 2 - Base

    • Scalability: Base supports high transaction speeds and fast finality, solving scalability challenges inherent to Layer 1.

    • Cost Efficiency: Base’s optimized transaction process reduces fees, making it suitable for high-frequency interactions and micro-transactions across Onion Network’s entertainment and asset management dApps.

    • Interoperability: Base enables seamless interaction between dApps within the Onion Network ecosystem and other Ethereum-compatible applications, facilitating cross-chain transactions and data flow.

  3. Layer 3 - Onion Network

    • Near-Zero Gas Fees: Onion Network absorbs most transaction costs, allowing for near-zero fees that encourage active use of dApps.

    • Account Abstraction: OnionEasy Wallet, powered by account abstraction, simplifies user interactions with the blockchain, making the experience user-friendly for mainstream audiences.

    • Modular Core Framework: Core modules like Onion TokenizR, VaultMaster, and TrustGuard are integrated at the Layer 3 level, creating a seamless environment for RWA tokenization and high-engagement dApps.
